Willen we koste wat kost voorkomen dat een infectie zich verspreidt, dan moeten we allemaal of een maanpak aandoen of altijd op 1,5 meter afstand van elkaar blijven. Dat is natuurlijk niet wenselijk als je een zorginstelling leefbaar wilt houden. Je moet dan concessies doen. Dat kan op een verantwoorde manier door een goede risicoanalyse op te stellen. Heb ik te maken met pati\u00ebnten met een zwakke of met een goede gezondheid? Omdat niet met harde cijfers aan te tonen is met hoeveel het aantal besmettingen in de praktijk afneemt? Want inderdaad, dat kunnen we niet, maar dat is niet omdat de handschoenen niet werken. We kunnen het effect ervan in de praktijk niet meten om de eenvoudige reden dat er ook altijd andere be\u00efnvloedende factoren zijn. Misschien was iedereen extra alert op het protocol of werden ook isolatiemateriaal en mondmaskers gedragen. Feit is dat onze antimicrobi\u00eble handschoenen een groot aantal virussen en bacteri\u00ebn binnen een mum van tijd doden, want dat blijkt uit meerdere wetenschappelijke studies. En dat een afname van het aantal ziekteverwekkers de kans op de verspreiding van een ziekte aanzienlijk verkleint.
